Civics Tree

Civics[]

  • Social Policies in Civ 5 are now replaced with Civics, which in essence belong to their own separate tech tree and utilize Culture.
  • The Civics you unlock add new cards into your "Deck". Throughout the game you gain Civics Cards which you can slot in and out of your government template for specialization purposes. Your government layout changes based on the government type you pick.
  • Advancing throughout the Civics tree allows you to unlock new forms of government and opens new Civics cards which you can slot in and out of your "Government" for specialization purposes. Different government types have different card layout.
  • Like Technologies and their "Eureka!" boosts, each Civic has their own unique "side-quest" called "Inspiration!" boosts. Some of these you'll get through regular gameplay, while others will require some extra effort.

70 Ancient Era Conscription, Corvée Build a District.
Early Empire
70 Ancient Era Colonization, Land Surveyors, Open Borders Grow your Civilization to at least 6 Population. Unlocks the ability to enforce borders and grant Open Borders.
Mysticism
50 Ancient Era Oracle, Inspiration, Revelation Found a Pantheon. Grants 1 Envoy.
