Hattusa is one of the City-States in Civilization VI. Hattusa served as the capital of the Hittite Empire throughout the Late Bronze Era. It was founded by Hatti natives of Anatolia around 2500BC, before being sacked, subjugated, and then assimilated with Hittite invaders from the east around 1700BC. King Hattusili I spent much of the following century rebuilding Hattusa and developing its military capabilities.
Operating out of its imperial capital of Hattusa, the "Land of the Hatti" became a major regional power throughout the Late Bronze Era, competing for control of the Near East with the Babylonians, Israelites, and New Kingdom of Egypt, among others. Hattusa is credited with the invention of ironworking, having been home to the earliest-dated samples of smelted iron in the world. Hattusa was ultimately destroyed by Phygrian invaders during the Bronze Age Collapse, in 1200BC.
